My name is Amelia, and I would love to be your doula. I decided to become a doula immediately after my son was born. I had the perfect team, and everything went right: I received encouraging, respectful care from my midwife, and tireless comfort through a long labor from my husband and mom. I felt safe and cared for, and my choices were respected without judgement.
I knew right away how lucky I was: not everyone has the support that I have, but everyone deserves it. I want to give other families the peace and confidence that comes with skilled, loving support in the birth space.
I am committed to providing compassionate and unjudgemental care to all childbearing people and their families, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender expression. I believe that women's rights are human rights, Black lives matter, trans people are not a distraction, and no human is illegal. I will do everything I can to ensure that you feel safe with me. I want to support you in the way that feels best to you.
I attended the Birth Doula Workshop at The Birthing Inn in October 2017, and I am currently working toward my certification through DONA.
When I am not working as your doula, I'm spending time with my family, reading, writing, or playing outside. I also work as the office manager for the Midwives' Association of Washington State. I live in Tacoma, Washington, and am happy to attend births in the greater Tacoma area.
